N.B. This wiki page is a collaborative document for preparing Software Freedom Day 2010. For the moment we're quite busy with SFD 2009, but I've made this copy of the SFD2009 page because some things may be useful for SFD2010.

N.B.2 If you have ideas or want to make corrections go ahead and click edit at the top of this wiki page. Having trouble editing the wiki? Click Help at the left.

[edit] General

  • used abbreviations
    • SFD: Software Freedom Day 2009
    • SFI: Software Freedom International, the official organiser of Software Freedom Day
  • official date: Saturday 19 September 2009 (third Saturday of September, not on our usual Sunday)

[edit] To do

More or less in order of priority.

  • Subscribe ClubNix as one of the organizing teams of SFD. Who will do this? Who will do communication with SFI?
  • Decide on meeting space.
    • Pim asked if we could a meeting space at the Central Public Library of The Hague. No not possible, the meeting spaces are only for internal use.
    • Wesley asked at KPN if he could use a KPN meeting space. No not possible either for same reason.
    • Remaining alternative 1: LinProfs, this could be too small.
    • Remaining alternative 2: At Computer Hobby Club 'DIGITAL' The (The Hague) Ubuntu Install Party was organised there and it is well-suited for our SFD. You can easily receive 40 people there, see their website for more info. (Pim and Paulus went to the The Hague Ubuntu Install Party.)
    • Best would be a public space (like a library, but that one didn't succeed), so we can also attract visitors that are just passing by
  • Fix date.
    • We should agree on a date. If there's no speaker who really wants to give his presentation on another date I think we should stick to the official date.
  • Make estimate of number of people attending.
    • Last meeting our estimate was between 8 and 20 last meeting attending SFD 2009. We had some 10 people at SFD 2007.
  • Find external speakers for presentations
    • Thomas: can you please write out the notes about subjects we were searching speakers for. And can you write down for what subjects you contacted who, I know you've been busy contacting speakers! ... Thanks in advance for writing it here.
  • Complete the schedule with presentations of ourselves
    • Thomas: we had several ideas for presentations last April meeting. Can you write out your notes here... Thanks in advance.
  • Demonstration computers
    • Thomas: we had several ideas for demonstration computers. Can you write out your notes here... Thanks in advance.
  • Ubuntu booth: would that be possible??
    • Maintained by Ubuntu NL people, so ClubNix people could focus on showing other open source software
    • Promotion material: Ubuntu stickers, flyers, CD's, etc.
    • Demonstrational netbooks
  • Promotion of SFD 2009 at ClubNix
    • Thomas: can you write out what you had in your notes? Thanks in advance.
  • Coffee, tea, cola??
  • ...Lots of thing Paulus forgot in this first draft.
