[edit] About editing the ClubNix wiki
Right now you are on the ClubNix wiki, not the ClubNix forum. Any ClubNix member may edit any part of any page of the ClubNix wiki, this in contrast to the ClubNix forum, where you can only edit your own postings. Please be a little bit careful when editing important pages like the Main Page as all your edits go live immediately. Any change can be undone with the help of the wiki software. You may experiment away on your own personal page if you wish.
- Q: Why do I get a login error when I try to login at the ClubNix wiki?
- A: Probably because you did register for the ClubNix forum but you didn't register for the ClubNix wiki. Unfortunately you need two separate accounts, and your registration for the ClubNix newsletter is yet another account. Please use Create an account to make a ClubNix wiki account as well.
- Q: Where can I find information about using the MediaWiki software this wiki is using?
- A: Either on the website of the MediaWiki software http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/User_hub or on the help pages of Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Edit (the MediaWiki software was created for Wikipedia originally).
- Q: What if I can't find the answer there?
- A: Ask your question on the ClubNix forum http://www.clubnix.net/forum or e-mail Paulus (the moderator of the ClubNix wiki) <laudaka AT yahoo DOT com>
- Q: Why is the link to the ClubNix forum shown as an external link? (with an arrow pointing outwards of a square)
- A: Although both the ClubNix wiki and the ClubNix forum are hosted on the clubnix.net domain the wiki only considers a link internal if it is pointing to a page within the ClubNix wiki and the ClubNix forum is not part of the wiki. All pages of the ClubNix wiki start with http://www.clubnix.net/index.php/.
- Why can't I upload images or other files?
- Because we're seriously behind with server administration and things are starting to get broken. Fortunately this problem and others will be solved before end of 2009. In the meantime for images use http://imageshack.us/ . For files don't use the ClubNix wiki but use the attachment feature of the ClubNix forum.
- Q: How do I edit a wiki template?
- A: Here I will describe a way that always work but you may find you can do it easier. First click the "Show preview" button below the edit box. Now scroll completely to the bottom of the web page and you will see the header "Templates used in this preview:". Now you can click the template you want to edit. The reason we use wiki templates for the meeting descriptions is the following: this way the text of the meeting on the meeting page is identical to the text on the Main Page (our home page).
- Q: How do I create or a edit a table?
- A: See Help:wiki markup, tables
- Q: How do I delete a page? How do I ban users or IP addresses?
- A: This is something ordinary wiki users can't do. If you want to help out with wiki system administration, see Help:Assigning permissions for how to become a member of the sysop and bureacrat groups.
